ESAC Biodiversity

ESAC_Biodiversity leads the Group’s work in conserving ecosystems, enhancing biodiversity, and integrating nature-based solutions (NbS) across planning, policy, and development initiatives. The division supports clients in meeting regulatory conservation obligations, assessing ecological impacts, restoring degraded habitats, and safeguarding species and ecosystem services across terrestrial, marine, and urban environments. ESAC_Biodiversity aligns its technical delivery with international conservation frameworks including the IUCN Red List, CBD Aichi Targets, and the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration. Whether through protected area planning, biodiversity net gain design, or climate-adaptive landscape management, this division provides science-based solutions that deliver ecological, regulatory, and social value.

Core Functions

Mapping biodiversity and ecological conditions to support planning, permitting, and environmental safeguards.
Rehabilitating degraded ecosystems such as wetlands, forests, and coastal zones through tailored recovery programs.
Applying biodiversity-enhancing, climate-resilient interventions across urban, water, and infrastructure systems.
Invasive Species Management & Ecological Risk Control: Developing early detection and control programs to reduce the impact of invasive species on native ecosystems.
Conducting assessments and mitigation planning for marine, mangrove, reef, and freshwater habitats.
Designing measurable offset and enhancement plans to achieve biodiversity net gain or no-net-loss targets
Supporting the designation and long-term management of protected zones, ecological buffers, and habitat corridors.

Sub-Units

To ensure ecological performance across multiple domains, ESAC_Biodiversity is structured into five specialized sub-units:

01

Ecological Field Surveys & Analysis

Executes habitat mapping, species identification, and ecological sensitivity assessments

02

Habitat Restoration & Rewilding

Leads on-ground ecological restoration and rewilding interventions in degraded zones

03

Nature-Based Solutions (NbS) Advisory

Designs NbS frameworks for cities, water utilities, and infrastructure developers

04

Marine & Aquatic Ecology

Conducts marine biodiversity studies, water habitat assessments, and mitigation planning

05

Biodiversity Offsetting & Conservation

Develops offset schemes and ecological enhancement strategies under “net gain” models
