ESAC Circularity

ESAC_Circularity is the division responsible for transforming traditional resource consumption and waste generation models into regenerative, circular, and resource-efficient systems. It provides strategic and operational solutions across the full spectrum of material and resource management, helping governments, municipalities, and industries implement policies and systems that reduce dependency on raw materials, minimize waste, and extend product and asset life. By integrating circular economy principles with resource optimization, this division supports the UAE Circular Economy Policy 2031 and global sustainability targets. Its scope includes material flow optimization, industrial symbiosis, product redesign, waste-to-resource pathways, and circular procurement—serving both public policy makers and private sector entities.

Core Functions

Designing transition frameworks that integrate circular principles into policies, sectors, and national strategies.
Analyzing and improving material and energy flows within cities and industries for closed-loop systems.
Implementing systems to reduce avoidable waste and extract value from diverse waste streams.
Lifecycle Optimization & Regenerative Product Design: Supporting the design of durable, modular, and reusable products with minimal environmental impact.
Creating networks that enable resource exchange between industries to improve collective efficiency.
Developing producer accountability systems with effective take-back and compliance mechanisms
Embedding circularity into procurement and enhancing sustainability across supply chains

Sub-Units

To operationalize the circular economy in both policy and practice, ESAC_Circularity is structured into five sub-units—each targeting a core domain of material flow, resource optimization, and system integration

01

Waste Valorization Lab

Identifies, tests, and scales up reuse and recovery solutions for diverse waste streams

02

Circular Economy Roadmaps

Develops strategic transition frameworks for circularity across government and private sectors

03

Industrial Symbiosis & Eco-Clusters

Designs systems for inter-industry material exchange, shared infrastructure, and byproduct reuse

04

EPR & Lifecycle Compliance

Establishes producer responsibility schemes & supports enforcement mechanisms for product end-of-life

05

Circular Design & Procurement

Embeds regenerative design principles & develops sustainable procurement frameworks across supply chains
